Order cDNA clones

General considerations

Arborea will fill small requests for small numbers of cDNA clones (up to 50 bacterial stabs). Requests must be made using the Excel form below. If, when you open the file, you are asked to activate macros, click on "Activate macros".

Clone requests are accepted for sequences which have been released to Genbank (dbEST). Clones must be requested by MN Id (Minnesota ID) AND GQ Id (Genome Quebec ID). Sequence or sequence similarity information cannot be used to request a clone. Clone Id's may be retrieved on the CCGB web site or GenBank:

Material will be shipped only when the signed Material Transfer Agreement will be received (copy of the MTA provided in the Excel form). The MTA is really short.

Requests are filled free of charge or on cost recovery basis, depending on volume of the request, the type of institution (for-profit or non-for-profit) and the origin of the request (Canada or outside Canada).

For collaborators interested in large-scale analyses, entire copies of the projects unigene are available on a cost recovery basis (replication, materials, shipment). Write to info@arborea.ulaval.ca to request information.

We cannot guarantee the quality or identity of clones retrieved from our large-scale sequencing project. To date, the viability and purity clones retrieved from our collection have been very high. Identity has also been very good.

How to request clones

  • Complete the Excel form and send it to info@arborea.ulaval.ca. If, when you open the file, you are asked to activate macros, click on "Activate macros". Be sure to complete each sections of the form including :
    • Name of research group leader and Institution (indicate if non-for-profit).
    • Complete Shipping address
    • Complete Invoicing information
    • List of clones with MN Id AND GQ Id, per each clone.
  • Complete de Material Transfer Agreement. It is really short. Sign two copies and fax it to 418-656-2408 or send it via regular mail to John MacKay, Marchand Building, #2165, Université Laval, Québec, Qc, G1K 7P4

Request for shipment in Canada by non-for-profit institutions*

Cost for filling and shipping requests are listed in table below and are calculated automatically in the Excel form.

  • Bacterial stabs only, shipped via express mail, no ice.
  • Maximum of 3 requests per year per research group.
  • Up to 50 bacterial stabs per request.
  • Requests are filled /shipped every 60 days. Expect a delay of up to 60 days.

Request for shipment outside of Canada or by all for-profit institutions*

International shipment of bacterial stabs may be restricted depending on shipping destination; therefore we reserve the right to ship plasmid DNA or bacterial stabs.

Cost for filling and shipping requests are listed in table below and are calculated automatically in the Excel form.

  • Plasmid DNA.
    • Maximum 10 clones per request.
    • Maximum of 2 requests per year, per research group
    • Up to 10 clones per request
    • Requests are filled free of charge (until further notice), except for shipping costs.
    • Requests are filled /shipped every 60 days. Expect a delay of up to 60 days.
  • Bacterial stabs.
    • IMPORTANT NOTICE: shipment of bacterial stabs may require that the recipient complete import paper work or provide documentation for shipping.
    • Maximum of 2 requests per year, per research group
    • For 10 to 50 bacterial stabs per request
